How To Grow
How To Grow
Sowing: In regions with warm climates, seeds can be directly sown in spring once the soil temperature reaches 21-29 degrees Celsius. To expedite germination, make a small cut in the seed coat using a sharp knife or soak the seeds in warm water overnight. In cooler climates, begin indoor seed starting 6-8 weeks before the final spring frost. Plant the treated seeds 6 mm deep and maintain consistently moist soil until germination, which typically occurs within 7-10 days under warm conditions. Transplant seedlings promptly after germination to avoid root disturbance, ensuring soil temperatures are at least 18 degrees Celsius with no risk of frost.
Growing: These plants thrive in well-drained, moderately moist soil, although they can tolerate periods of drought. They prefer full sun exposure. The vines exhibit rapid growth, especially in warm conditions, necessitating sturdy support such as a fence or arbor. Without adequate support, they will sprawl along the ground until they encounter a structure to climb. Heavenly Blue Morning Glory plants readily self-sow and attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Please note that we are unable to sell Heavenly Blue Morning Glory seeds to customers in Arizona or Michigan.
